NBCUniversal, a division of Comcast Corporation (Nasdaq: CMCSA) announced on August 22, 2016, that it had completed the acquisition of DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc. (DWA) in a deal valued at approximately $3.8 billion. DWA shareholders were offered $41 for each share of DWA stock. DWA stock will no longer be traded on the NASDAQ stock exchange. This move grants NBCUniversal the opportunity to advance its position in entertainment for children and families.

DreamWorks will operate in NBCUniversalÕs Universal Filmed Entertainment Group alongside Fandango and Universal Pictures. Jeffrey Katzenberg, co-founder of DreamWorks Animation, will serve as chairman for DreamWorks New Media. This acquisition will also aid NBCUniversal in its mission to generate more successful animated properties. Centerview Partners and PJT Partners served as financial advisers to DreamWorks and Comcast, respectively. Legal counsel was provided by Sullivan & Cromwell.
